Anyone who knows me knows I've been talking about going back to school for a long time. I've been
teaching myself fullstack dev, refreshing myself on precalculus and calculus 1, I've been building a
portfolio, etc.
When the first day of school finally came, I was overjoyed. I was so excited to step back into the world
after 4 years of working from home. I couldn't wait to meet new people, to mingle with other students,
to frequent campus cafes and restaurants downtown... I was genuinely so excited.
And yet, here I am. Studying in my home office from nothing but a course outline and a textbook. You
see, when I actually got to class, I was struck by how inaccesible it is. We are in a pandemic surge.
My calculus class had about 200 students packed into a tiny room, no windows, not an empty seat in
sight. My classmates coughed, sniffled, sneezed, and rubbed snot into their sleeves without any concern
for others. They didn't cover their mouths.
I guess school just isn't for people like me.
